The research theme is to explore what kind of energy systems have a low environmental impact and how to achieve it.
The goal is simple, but there are numerous constraints to consider, such as economic viability, resource availability, political issues like international competition, sustainability of the system, human preferences, future uncertainties, and rigidity of existing systems. Taking these into account, we conduct interdisciplinary research, not only in engineering but also in social science fields such as economics.
As specific research topics, we particularly focus on the household sector and investigate the potential for energy conservation and demand response (DR).
We collect data from Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) and smart meters to thoroughly understand the demand structure of households.
Furthermore, we conduct research on examining the potential for energy conservation in households and quantitatively evaluating demand response without compromising comfort.
