architectural theory in Japan after 1945
architecture and the environment, urban design broadly defined
art and architecture, art museum as a building type

PhD in Architecture at Harvard University (2011). Major grants from the Graham Foundation, the Japan Foundation, and the Association of Asian Studies (US).

Major publications include Shinohara Kazuo: Traversing the House and the City (Lars Müller, 2020) and Tange Kenzo: Architecture for the World (Lars Müller, 2012).

Major exhibitions: Utopia Across the Scales: Highlights from the Kenzo Tange Archive (Harvard GSD, 2009) and Shinohara Kazuo: ModernNext (Harvard GSD 2019).
