Survey of Environment and Energy Comsumption in Eco-House in Japan

p1-3

We examine Eco-houses in Japan by measuring thermal environment and energy consumption in each season. Eco-houses are built all around Japan, the northernmost site is Shimokawa-Cho in Hokkaido, the southernmost site is Miyakojima-Shi in Okinawa.

Many ideas, such as Solar Energy (heat and PV), cross-ventilation, are adopted by designers, who considered the climate of each region, and they planed the way of construction, insulation and natural energy use.

We evaluate these Eco-houses objectively and try to seek the best balance of these methods. So as to achieve this aim, we’re measuring some Eco-houses everyday in each region.

Some Eco-house are designed by architects who have wrong or empirical knowledge, so those environment or energy consumption are not good. We want to develop the method of design perfect Eco-house in Japan as the result of our research.
