In the field of building/urban thermal environment and energy systems, we study on evaluation, proposal and development of technologies for environmental load reduction and energy saving, and the methodologies for synthesizing and practicing them.

The research topics are (1) to develop commissioning tools for energy saving of HVAC&R systems in the operation, (2) to propose system design, operation and maintenance methods in order that different HVAC&R technologies contribute to the realization of building energy saving, (3) to survey and analyze energy consumption in commercial buildings for estimating the base-line, (4) to develop a simulator for long-term prediction of urban environmental load to assist effective policy-making from the viewpoint of urban sustainability, (5) to analyze passive/active measures which can be applied to residential/commercial buildings in developing city, etc.
