I arrived at my post in April, 2007.

I research on the structure characteristics of traditional wooden buildings, especially on the earthquake resistance.

The main research objectives are follows.
(1) Accumulation of engineering data required in order to secure the safety of existing historical buildings inheriting their cultural values.
(2) Researching the structural characteristics of historical buildings which have survived many natural disasters, learning from them, and considering what can be reflected in future building construction.

These several years, I am extending my research fields in time (not only historic buildings in a narrow sense but existent buildings) and geographically (not only in Japan but till Asia-Pacific region).
