EXHIBITION “MAKING INBETWEEN”

CONCEPT
“MAKING INBETWEEN,” a special exhibition by volunteer students from the Department of Architecture at the University of Tokyo, will be held from Friday, November 1st to Monday, November 4th (holiday). The exhibition will feature five artworks created through the “Media Studies 6″ course, taught by Architect/Professor Chiba Manabu and Artist Tokolo Asao. Since 2016, this course has focused on the concept “CONDITION SPECIFIC,” encouraging
students to explore creative expressions beyond the boundaries of architecture. This year, the theme “MAKING INBETWEEN,” set by Mr. Tokolo, inspired group works utilising a variety of media. Many of the works are interactive or hands-on, inviting visitors of all ages to engage with them.

We invite you to a panel discussion titled “InBetween Zokei and Architecture” held at the Sandanzaka no Wakan. We are honored to host Architect/Professor Chiba Manabu and artist Tokolo Asao, who supervised “Media Studies 6″ course.
The session will delve into the role of “zokei” in the study of architecture taught as an engineering discipline. Furthermore, the discussion will explore both guests’ perspectives on the intersection of “zokei” and architecture, with interactive participation from the audience.
